Each of the three DVDs in this status is made up of two parts.
The first is a “theme” episode, with various related clips. I acquire these are the same that aired on Saturday nights, as fraction of the hour long specials. They are bleeped and blurred.
Each of the discs also contains a 15-20 slight “Too Hot For TV” segment. They are different on each disc, but very similar in dispute. They bear unblurred Mardi Gras footage and other unbleeped segments. Although some of it (like car crashes shown in montage) has already aired on TV, so nothing all that “Too Hot” about it. You’ve probably seen it before.

The discs don’t do powerful sense though, in that they display blurred footage of one arrest on the Poor Girls DVD, yet on the “Too Hot” segment of one of the other DVDs they demonstrate the same arrest unblurred. They should have showed the whole thing unedited rather than repeating segments like that.
As it is, most COPS fans have probably seen these episodes already. If you are a fan, who can not score enough of the present, they are worth buying.
I am from Germany. When I was on vacation in the USA, I saw the TV Indicate Cops. Unfortunately the demonstrate is not shown in Germany. When I found out that the note as DVD appears, I bought all three DVDs. I earn the prove better than all action movies.

If your a long time fan of Two and a Half Men, or even if you aren’t, you will care for season 6. This is the season where we bag Charlie Harper growing up a miniature bit, and at the same time staying as immature and conceited as possible. We peer all of our common characters construct unusual tale lines of their absorb with Alan having had a miniature saunter with ex-wife Judith and wondering if her pregnancy is a result of him or her novel husband Herb. We also acquire Alan with another possible romance with his receptionist Melissa. Meanwhile Charlie is remaining as hilarious as ever with his recent wife-to-be Chelsea. The only one criticism I have is that of the character Jake who has lost a large deal of his appeal morphing from a cute and hilarious microscopic pre-pubescent to a stereotypical teenager who eats too worthy. The character, however, mild has his moments, fair not as grand as he old to. All in all it is a hilarious season with a mountainous twist season finale! The season finale ends with objective as many questions as laughs with Herb Melnick’s character going into pudgy “Ryan Stiles” mode with the actor playing the character Herb as if he were relieve on the hit ABC point to Whose Line is it Anyway.

Many people pass off ANNIE as a children’s musical, when in actuality it has one of the most sophisticated scores and the book is of a higher standard than of many other shows. It mild holds a characterize of something like the 8th or 9th longest running demonstrate on Broadway, and it is a delight among theatre-goers.
This current Disney version stays faithful to the stage rep and script, not like John Huston’s rambling version encourage in 1981 (refer to my review for this), and it is a delight to peep. It has that ‘theatrical-style’ feel to it.
The esteemed cast, the bulk of which are seasoned Broadway performers, include Kathy Bates as Miss Hannigan, Alan Cumming as Rooster, Audra McDonald as Grace Farrell, Kristin Chenoweth as Lily St Regis, Victor Garber as Daddy Warbucks and the pleasing Alicia Morton as Annie. Making a cameo in the ‘NYC’ number as ”’Star To Be”’ is (oh satisfied day) the unusual Broadway Annie – Andrea McArdle.

The cast is sensational, and while I will not bring down the 1981 performers of Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters and Ann Reinking, they are far more believable in their interpretations.
You must prefer this original version of the Broadway fracture ANNIE!
I was a minute cynical when I first saw this movie as I’d seen the indicate done on stage and had been really disappointed with the last Annie produced in the 80′s, but I was pleasantly surprised. I watched this with my four-year extinct daughter and she loved it. The acting was tremendous. Kathy Bates, as usual, was extraordinary. The itsy-bitsy girl did a amazing job as Annie and all the musical numbers were fun. This 1999 version lacked some of the stunts that made the previous movie fantastic. It was precise and stuck to the new play very well. My daughter loved it and after one viewing was mopping my kitchen floor singing “Hard Knock Life.”

Movie Title: Indie Sex Indie Sex is available for streaming or downloading. |
Indie Sex is a four-part documentary about the evolution of sex in cinema. Produced by the Independent Film Channel, Indie Sex features John Cameron Mitchell, Dita Von Teese, Rosanna Arquette, Peter Sarsgaard, Tatum O’ Neal, and others discussing their thoughts and opinions on everything sexual.

Part one is the segment “Censored,” in which filmmakers and critics discuss the necessity of sex in cinema. We also collect to witness examples of early stag films and eye the subtle ways filmmakers would imply sex to come by past the Production Code Sensors. “Censored” talks about the introduction of the NC-17 rating (first bestowed upon Henry & June) and how Showgirls (Fully Exposed Edition) ultimately ruined the NC-17 rating’s chance of getting a mainstream audience.
“Teens” covers sex in teen films and how it wasn’t until the 1960s that this subject was explored. It talks about Hollywood studios seeing profit in teen sex comedies like American Pie – Unrated (Widescreen Collector’s Edition) . Of course, the impact of Kids on the teen-sex subgenre is discussed in depth, as well as the early `90s starting to stare teenage homosexuality.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Indie Sex! Click Here
“Extremes” talks about pedophilia, S&M, and unsimulated sex in films. Stanley Kubrick’s Lolita as well as Adrian Lyne’s Lolita are discussed at length. This is also covers fetishism and unsimulated sex in films like 9 songs – Unrated Fat Uncut Version and Vincent Gallo’s The Brown Bunny.
Finally, “Taboos” (a 30-minute segment) covers great of the same ground including the `70s detaching romance from sex…Here the films of John Waters, David Lynch, and David Cronenberg are the main topics.
Much of the same material is discussed in an older and valid documentary called The Celluloid Closet (Special Edition), although that mostly explores homosexuality in cinema rather than objective sex, so this is almost an extension of that material. I found Indie Sex to be intelligent, droll, and educational…Some may bag it “enlightening,” but I already knew great of what was talked about. The bit about stag films was fresh to me though and rather surprising too.
My biggest jam with Indie Sex is how repetitive it gets. I wasn’t a fan of John Cameron Mitchell’s Shortbus (Unrated Edition) already and it’s discussed various times in different segments. This also occurs with Last Tango in Paris, almost like the filmmakers ran out of novel ideas and fell benefit on the primitive ones.
Beyond that, Indie Sex is a very watchable, not-too-graphic documentary. The commentators provide some very laughable insight and besides some renowned facts scattered in here and the typical “why is sex more controversial than violence? ” pep-talk; many will acquire something original and surprising by watching this. Worth checking out, for certain.

Movie Title: Stalingrad Stalingrad is available for streaming or downloading. |
This is a attractive 3-part documentary (3-hours long) on the Battle of Stalingrad. It is a German/Russian co-production made in 2003 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the battle that turned the tide of the war. It is a distinguished collaborative exertion between the two venerable belligerents, with unprecedented access to their joint historical archives, both in terms of film footage and documentary records. The progress of the battle is told through the recollections of surviving veterans from both sides, as well as poignant letters home from those who perished. Alongside the better known footage from the German archives, there are rarer clips from the Russian vaults, of life in the city before, during and after the battle, and propaganda films of German POWs in Soviet concentration camps. From the NKVD (KGB/FSB) archives, we learn how, contrary to long approved historical accounts, Field Marshall Paulus’ surrender did not bring the battle to a cessation – over 10,000 German troops chose to fight on amidst the rubble, holding out against pleasant Soviet forces for another 2 months before finally being defeated. In all, over a quarter-million German soldiers (the grand 6th Army) died at Stalingrad. The Russians suffered over half a million casualties.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Stalingrad! Click Here
The documentary is far from exhaustive. Only cursory mention is made of the Romanian, Hungarian, and Italian Armies (over half a million men) that took share in the assault and perished alongside the Germans. But on the whole, it is a balanced, attractive and admirable narrative of a battle that has for too long, remained untold in the west. Its value lies not so worthy in the battle-footage unearthed but more in preserving the first-hand testimony of the last remaining survivors of this decisive moment in history.
My only criticism is of the irritating English dubbing of every spoken word in the documentary. This was originally shown in German and Russian with all the interviews conducted in those languages. It’s handsome to dub the main narration but dubbing over the veterans’ and survivors’ accounts was overkill and highly annoying. As the previous reviewer said, it was to appease the “subtitle-averse” crowd. Personally I opinion the producer should have given his audience more credit. Many of the veterans interviewed were emotionally distraught as they recounted the trauma. Having American voice-actors trying to lift their wound with faked emotion made the whole exhaust comical. For me, the height of absurdity was when Hitler and Goebbels had their speeches dubbed over by some American voice-actor. Optional English subtitles should have been the scheme to go.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Stalingrad! Click Here
The documentary was shot in 1.78:1 widescreen and is presented as such on this DVD (Anamorphic) . The unique footage, including the interviews, shots of the present-day city and the graphics extinct, all behold safe, with moving images and strong, natural colours. The archive footage is understandably poorer in quality, unrestored and from the Russian side, significantly grainy. Sound is in Dolby 2.0. There are no subtitles. Extras include a 10-minute long interview with Prof. Guido Knopp who wrote and co-produced the documentary, 20 minutes worth of additional interviews with veterans (both in German with optional English subtitles) and a 5-minute modern-day tour of a pristine, snow-clad Volgograd (City on the Volga – the unique name for Stalingrad) .
A solid documentary with inviting current footage and invaluable testimony from participants in the battle and related events is ruined by loud voice-overs by abominable actors. Both the narration and the voice-overs of interviewees are mediocre at best. If you are averse to dubbing of fictional films, you will understand that overdubbing of non-fictional work is particularly onerous. Clearly a decision was made to produce a version that would be accessible to those averse to reading subtitles. But in the age of DVD it is fairly absurd not to include the new version of the film.

MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS is easily one of the best films of 2005. That it didn’t garner an Oscar for Judi Dench is incredible as this is one of her finest roles (in a long line of respectable films!) . Director Stephen Frears (Risky Liaisons, Dirty Exquisite Things, The Grifters, Liam etc) has build together a film that is at once nostalgic, sophisticated, colorful, witty, unlit, and thoroughly intelligent. This small film is a winner.

London, 1937, and Laura Henderson, having lost her only son in WW I is discovered at the graveside of her recently departed husband. Not wanting to be stuck with the British widow stance, she decides on a hobby to own her time: she buys, renovates and readies a theater in the West Extinguish of London, hires Vivian Van Damm (Bob Hoskins) to be her impresario and the two successfully originate a music hall type of entertainment. Their efforts are soon so imitated that their income falters, giving Mrs. Henderson a original concept: she will introduce stout nudity into her theater to replace the French postcard surrogates the soldiers carry. Mrs. Henderson is indefatigable, has a laceratingly comical relationship with Van Damm, and even manages to cajole the politicians to go along with her ‘new concept’. By now WW II is at it s peak and despite the London blitzkriegs the theater manages to survive, but not without some sacrifices and some self-revelations between Mrs. Henderson and Van Damm. There are many dinky subplots provocative the company of performers, but they all blend nicely into the poignant account.
Judi Dench is absolutely elegant in this role, a role that allows her to veil a wide gamut of moods, each of which she handles expertly. Likewise, Bob Hoskins gives the performance of his rich career and the other cast members in this ensemble part could not be better. The music and staged numbers are enjoyable and the atmosphere of London under siege is very realistic. In every arrangement this is a successful movie, one that deserves a wide audience and one of those DVDs proper of placing in your film library. A hearty Bravo! to all concerned! Grady Harp, April 06
Last year’s cinematic celebration of the London theatre scene was BEING JULIA, in which Annette Bening plays a no-longer-young stage actress of the slow 1930s, who has hitherto starred in the productions her theatre-owner husband stages, and who crafts a toothsome revenge against a fresh-faced protege whom her spouse hires and falls in like with.

Based more on loyal events, and also plot in the behind 1930s/early 40s, MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS has wealthy Laura Henderson (Judi Dench), on the death of her husband, purchasing and renovating a derelict cinema and renaming it The Windmill Theatre for want of anything more titillating to do in 1937. To manage the establishment from the outset, she hires strong-willed Vivian Van Damm (Bob Hoskins), who insists on having final say on their stage performances’ artistic narrate and the day-to-day running of the spot. He begins by presenting an around-the-clock vaudeville present, the 24/7 nature of which is a groundbreaking opinion. This keeps The Windmill the talk-of -the-town for awhile, i.e. until other London theatres inaugurate to imitate, and then designate sales drop off. To get the advantage, Laura has the opinion of putting naked actresses on-stage, but then must convince the dubious Van Damm and outmaneuver the absolute veto power of the censorous city authorities, here personified by Laura’s friend, Lord Cromer (Christopher Guest) .
The creators of MRS. HENDERSON PESENTS have taken timeline liberties. The right Mrs. Henderson actually acquired The Windmill region in 1931, opening first with a live play, “Inquest”, which proved unsuccessful. After briefly returning to screening films, a novel manager, Van Damm, produced and opened the non-stop “Revuedeville” in 1932. From then on, The Windmill entered history (“We never closed”) as the only London theatre to halt start throughout the war, including the Blitz.
Dench steals the reveal as the meddling owner, and Hoskins holds his beget as her nemesis-manager. The film deftly captures their stormy, but oddly affectionate, relationship, as well as the perils of staging performances while German bombs fell. Kelly Reilly is delectable and handsome as Maureen, the first showgirl recruited by Hoskins for The Windmill’s bill of nudie cuties.
Towards the film’s kill, Laura poignantly reveals why she had the concept for removing the actresses clothes. Vivid that, and seeing the reason why she made frequent pre-war visits to France, it’s particularly dark when the film ends before the Allied victory and the final credits remark that Henderson died in 1944. She left The Windmill to Vivian, who ran it until his death in 1960. Van Damm’s daughter then operated the establishment until 1964, when it was unable to compete with the strip joints. Since then, the plot has hosted a cinema, a casino, a nude-review theatre, and (presently) a lap-dancing club.
MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS is a thoroughly charming and unpretentious film about a small allotment of London theatre history. It probably won’t obtain it out of the art houses, but sight it if you can.

It’s tough to compress the 900-some-odd pages of text that Thomas Malory dilapidated to dispute his legend of Le Morte d’Arthur into 140 minutes of film, but director John Boorman and screenwriter Rospo Pallenberg give it a well-behaved shot. While it sometimes leaves out indispensable details or compresses events in the interest of time, it can never be accused of playing quickly and loose with the tale. However, the film also requires a bit of work on the piece of the viewer to gain in some of the details, and it’s positive Boorman expects his viewer to be at least passing familiar with the traditions of the Arthurian narrative (anyone uncommon with Arthur’s fate after his death, for example, will be baffled by the film’s final shot) . So brush up objective a bit before you sit down to this one.
With its darkened, cloud-streaked skies, lonely stone castles, eerie green lighting, (all caught in stunning widescreen glory on the DVD), and effective consume of the music of Richard Wagner, you won’t accumulate a moodier, more beautifully shot film. In fact, there are some downright breathtaking cinematic moments in this film, none more so than when Perceval hurls Excalibur befriend into the water, and Wagner’s music swells unprejudiced in time for the Lady of the Lake to manufacture a dramatic neat accept. Titanic stuff.
It also helps that Nicol Williamson turns in a very game performance as Merlin, but it’s Nigel Terry who carries the film in an underappreciated but wholly believeable interpretation of King Arthur. Terry leaves the scenery-chewing to Williamson, and anchors the film instead with a staunch, understated performance. Contemplate also for stars-in-the-making Liam Neeson as the jealous Gawain, and Patrick Stewart as Guenevere’s father, Leodegrance.

EXCALIBUR has all the elements one expects in a fantasy, yet, in a sense, Boorman does for the sword-and-sorcery film what Sergio Leone did for the western: whereas prior horse operas showed cowboys riding across the desert and shuffing down dirt streets without a bit of sweat, and firing pistols that never drew blood, Leone made everyone witness hot and sweaty, and showed that a Smith & Wesson could rip a sincere hole through your gut. Boorman does the same for the knight in this film — knights clunk around clumsily in heavy armor, secure skewered on pikes, procure their heads bashed in, and cough their guts out in bloody mud puddles. It all lends an air of veracity to the film that makes it all seem like It Could Really Have Happened This Arrangement.
The widescreen format available on DVD gives this film the weight and heft it has long deserved, and there are some loyal gems lurking among the additional features — including a surprisingly cheezy, Grade B trailer, and a really ample alternate soundtrack in which director John Boorman discusses the action and shares some behind-the-scene goodies (such as the fact that Nicol Williamson and Helen Mirren couldn’t stand each other, or that the actor playing the grown-up Mordred was actually a superior horseman) .
Give this one a try.
Within my memory, there’ve been only a couple films featuring the sage of King Arthur. However, one of them released in 1981, EXCALIBUR, is the standard by which all others, past and future, must be judged. It’s positively heavenly in its excellence, and a must-see for any devotee of the story.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Excalibur! Click Here
In a sense, EXCALIBUR is more a tale of Merlin than Arthur since Nicole Williamson’s unbelievable, current portrayal of the primitive overshadows Nigel Terry’s role as the latter. However, the film faithfully depicts the Arthurian epic from his concept and birth at Tintagel Castle, to his death at the hands of Mordred. In between are all the other elements of the memoir one would hope for and expect: Uther Pendragon, the Sword In the Stone, the Battle of Mount Badon, Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table, Sir Lancelot, Guinevere, Sir Percival, the Quest for the Holy Grail, the Lady of the Lake, and Lady Morgana (a.k.a. Morgan La Fey) .
A trace of caution for parents of young children. At times, the film is intensely violent, bloody and sexual. (Gee, it sounds like any normal day at the office.) You are warned. And it’s not a movie for squeamish adults, either.
The costuming is apt. The gleaming cinematography and film editing, combined with a heavenly soundtrack that includes “Carmina Burana” and “Tristan’s Funeral March” at objective the factual scenes, invent EXCALIBUR absolutely awe-inspiring. You’ll want to survey it over and over. (I’ve talked myself into wanting to notion it again true now!) The final scene is one you’ll wish you could extract from your TV cover and frame, with sound.
Oh, my! What a cinematic achievement!

The DVD version of “The Astronomical Urge” is long overdue. It’s humorous and fun; reunites Lemmon & Curtis; it’s an homage to all the gargantuan slapstick that EVERYONE loves. What’s imperfect with having fun? I truly acquire that Blake Edwards deserves more consideration that he’s been given. Anyone remember “Operation Petticoat” or “The Pink Panther”? We’re talking about a career of almost 50 years…and Hollywood doesn’t consume him seriously. Anyone remember “Victor/Victoria” or “That’s Life”? How about “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”? These are all films that are respected and admired, but Edwards seems to be on the back-burner when awards are handed out. It’s a shame; Edwards has given us no more than pure entertainment, well-presented. His most nominated film is “The Colossal Speed”, so purely devoted to period detail, though it received no Oscar nominations for sets or costumes (it was nominated for Cinematography, Sound, Music, Song, Editing, and won for Sound Effects) . Indeed, Mancini’s gain was gorgeous; the song, “The Sweetheart Tree” has become a standard/classic. The Oscar should have gone to Peter Falk. I saw this as a kid in its initial release, and, when I told my friends how noteworthy I liked it, my teenage peers told me how shallow I was, that I should view “The Pawnbroker” or “Ship of Fools”. Well, for God’s sake, I was a kid (and I did ogle and adore those films) but the pure, tall reveal of craziness that Blake Edwards presented to me has never been forgotten. I’ve gotten older, and have been subjected to a whole bunch of stuff in the meantime, and I’ve waited for the DVD release of “The Broad Hurry”. Let’s not forget that Blake Edwards also directed “The Days of Wine and Roses” and “Experiment in Awe”. He is not frivolous nor is he simple. He does crazy comedy as well as riveting drama. His comedies are improbable, but none as totally overwhelming and palatable as “The Expansive Run”. Look and delight in!!
THE Large Rush is a lavishly-filmed comedy on the grandest scale. Director Blake Edwards’ unmistakeable touch is all over this sprawling comedy about a long-winded rush from Modern York to Paris, and is highlighted by Henry Mancini’s enjoyable fetch.
The Large Leslie (Tony Curtis) and Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) challenge each other to pick up ‘the mammoth race’, a foolish flight of adore that will pick them through the Wild West, fighting off polar bears in the Artic and thwarting Royal imposters in Europe.
Coming along for the lunge is feisty sufragette Maggie DuBois (Natalie Wood at her loveliest), and Fate’s dimwitted assistant Max (Peter Falk) . Glimpse the hopeless quartet as they attempt to gain the greatest accelerate of the century – with hilarious results!
