Many people are familiar with Project A-ko because it is classic anime from the 80′s. However not many people are aware that there are two different Project A-ko OAV series. There are the new four movies with A-ko and B-ko fighting for the friendship of C-ko. However there is the Versus movies.
This DVD contains both the Versus movies. Project A-ko Versus 1: Gray Side. and Project A-ko Versus 2: Blue side. These series seize the same characters and residence them in different settings and situations.
The Versus Movies are a place fable where the fate of the universe is at stake. The focus of the conflict is C-ko, who is kidnapped by situation pirates who wreck on a planet while losing C-ko in the process. A-ko and B-ko are firm friends and partners in this series and appear to be some sort of bounty hunters and when they win C-ko, well, you can imagine what happens here. The pirates want to fuse some obnoxious magician’s soul into C-ko’s body for some dim and tiwsted reason.

The music and the location are not as astronomical as the unusual movies but are inviting to say the very least. I found the Project A-ko Versus not as silly as the other movies but very dramatic in some sort of outlandish admire myth. Parents be warned, like the rest of the other Project A-kos, there is tranquil nudity, sexual undertones, and transgenderal themes.
This DVD contains three of the four project A-ko movies. There are also two other movies nicknamed the “Versus movies” which do not really continue on in the state. This DVD contains the three sequels to the unique Prokect A-ko movie.
I did not win the other movies as amazing as the new but they are definately worth a see.
Plot of Daitokuji Group is the second installment in the series, named after B-ko’s family, which involves the aliens asking for A-ko’s and B-ko’s benefit during their summer vacation. However B-ko’s rich father has other plans for the aliens.

Cinderella Rhapsody is the third movie. A-ko’s falls in admire with K which upsets C-ko. A-ko gets a job so she can recall the perfect dress she spies in a window exhibit. B-ko becomes obsessed with K as well. C-ko is very distraught by this lack of attention. K however likes C-ko.
Final is the last movie of the project A-ko series. Miss Ayumi, the girl’s teacher is lonely so she agrees to an arranged marriage. However Mr. Daitokuji (B-ko’s father) is arranging the marriage. Meanwhile a swiftly of spaceships is arriving and there is a newly discovered pyramid in Egypt. Quite Exclusive.
All the movies are really cute and have funny and obliging plots complimented with vast music. Be warned there are latent homosexual themes in the movies as well as minor nudity. These three movies are like the first one in the fact that they are all knock-off’s of other current anime and Japanese movie series. I highly recommend this DVD.

You don’t realize its so great until it’s over
This movie is fantastic. You don’t really realize how great it is until after its over though. It is a great story. A Catholic Boarding School teacher falls in love with her female student. That’s right, it is about lesbians and homosexuality. However, if you are just looking for “lesbian action” don’t waste your time with this, its not a sex movie. If on the other hand, you are mature enough to handle such a plot, you’ll love it. So after an hour of the student pursuing the teacher and the teacher being wary and afraid to be with her…..well I can’t tell you how it ends. What I will say, though, is why it is so great. It does not openly debate, discuss, or point out anything about homosexuality being right, wrong, good, or evil. What it instead does is tell a wonderful tale of romantic, yet forbidden pursuit, and no matter what your stance is on homosexuality in general, you cannot help but hope for a happy ending, and get wrapped up in this love drama. After the movie is over, you think of how bittersweet the story is and poor this and at least that and then it hits you – You have been focusing on love, passion, heartache, and beauty….but NOT about Straight or Gay relationships. That’s the beauty of this film. It captures you into a world of pure love drama and you forget that it is about a controversial subject at all. Regardless of your stance in this controversy, all you can focus on while watching is a love story between two human beings. Watch it, you’ll love it.
Wonderful study of “forbidden” teacher/student love
This new ‘hottest movie around’ tells a poignant story full of taboo, passion, and hidden lives brimming at the surfaces of these women as they fall deeper into each others worlds. You’re carried along watching Simone’s more mature “self” struggle to resist the younger, beautiful, and obviously very enlightened, student. Rebellious Annabelle is young and doesn’t demonstrate any real concept of consequence, and is focused on acting on her feelings and thoughts. This story is tender, real, controversial and compelling. The film quality is excellent, even if the acting isn’t exactly top notch. Stil, the women and settings are beautiful! YES, there is seduction, obviously, and man is it wonderful! The women are just lovely, both actresses are completely sexy and intriguing. I didn’t like the ending, but it absolutely dismantles the “double standard” question and says that it isn’t OK to seduce students! (but you can also click the ‘alternate ending’ option in the bonus section to get a happier ending) I loved the way Simone’s past was revealed bit by bit along the way; her struggle with heartache and vulnerability – but while possessing intellect and strength at the same time – was so intriguing. The evolving and maturing Annabelle was refreshing, but so was her youthful tenacity in holding on to her own set of values. The way they ultimately let the barrier between them melt away, and find themselves relating as women, unfolds in the “beach house” scene. Very touching. I take away 1 star for not developing this as much as it could have been, therefore, ending it in one hour. The love scene between the women is smokin’ hot!

I was disappointed by the organization. Yes. The stories artre all clearly listed on the box in alphabetical order, but they’re hard to get on the DVDs because they’re not organized in any particular device per DVD residence.
For example. I Treasure Courduroy. They probably could have included the live action movie along with the two cartoon versions that more closely resemble the books. Instead.. they build a book called “Yo! Yes? ” on the DVD… That starts out with two kids throwing a ball attend and forth saying and one saying “You? … …. …. ” pointing to himself and tossing the ball and the other one responding “You? … … ….” …… hmmmm… not so educational. Not so consuming. Kind of a extinguish of set on the DVD. This particular DVD also has “Here Comes the Cat!” — which I had never heard of.

While skimming the DVDS, I understanding I was getting jipped. 3-4 stories on each of the 16 DVDs doesn’t really near up to 100. Thats when I noticed they were counting sories they do in the DVD features as a special. I idea the features site was supposed to be for author comentaries… loyal extras..?? Then.. The best portion of this is that you actually only acquire 90 stories. 10 are also available in Spanish. If you’re not learning spanish.. Given that most DVDs currently approach in English and Spanish— This was a miniature disappointing. AND misleading. I consider that’s why I couldn’t collect a list of stories included ANYWHERE.
The “read along” is really impartial captions. You can turn them on yourself.
You can’t skip their advertisement for the DVD residence you already have. You can swiftly forward… but strangly, you are then able to forward past the main menu and waste up watching something aweful.
That being said.. there are a few superior ones on here. I haven’t really decided if it was worth buying as a location or if I should have purchased each one individually. I spent $50. I’m seeing some of the individuals selling stale for as indecent as $1. (I don’t assume I’d consume noteworthy more than $3 on each one as an individual) . Resale value is improper….

As a Reading Specialist and grandmother, I enthusiastically endorse the Scholastic Like of 100 Storybook Classics. First of all, they selected righteous books for children. Secondly, they utilized the illustration style of the originals, so the aesthetics of the books are clearly presented and preserved. Thirdly, the animation is well-done though not overdone. The pacing is dead, as when a book is read aloud. This gives the listener a chance to enjoy the legend, objective as he or she would if the myth were being read aloud. It even has the option to include the text on each page, if you have a blossoming reader. In fact, this is objective about the equivalent of having someone read aloud colossal record books for your child, while you do — whatever.

“Katie, it was never uncomplicated”
As stated many times before, THE WAY WE WERE is one of only a handful of romantic blockbusters to actually feature an intelligent script and complex characters. Writer Arthur Luarents’ based his screenplay (and subsequent novel) on girl he knew in college, who fought for liberal (and sometimes communist) causes. Three decades after it’s release, THE WAY WE WERE remains one of the few cinematic depictions of the Red Scare that swept America in the forties and fifties; the backdrop of which lends the surrounding love story greater potency and depth. The film was a surprise box office smash when originally released, and became the fifth-highest grossing film of 1973 and was instantly embraced as a classic.
Katie Morosky is a character that Barbra Streisand born play, and she delivers on all accounts. Fierce and determined, yet vulnerable and self-conscious, Katie is a tricky character and Streisand inhabits her so deeply that she seems nothing less than completely believable. Justifiably nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, she inexplicably lost to Glenda Jackson’s shrill performance in the barely remembered A TOUCH OF CLASS. This was clearly a major blunder on the side of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Robert Redford, who had actually turned down the role twice before director and friend Sydney Pollack talked him into taking the part, displays some of the best reflective acting ever seen on the big screen and effectively brings forth the dark side of being stereotyped as the All-American golden boy (although Redford did not receive an Oscar nod for playing Hubbell in this film, he was nominated for Best Actor that same year for his light comedic performance in THE STING).
THE WAY WE WERE is different from most romances in that it is not death, feuding families, or any other societal phenomena that directly tear the couple apart. Katie and Hubbell are simply passionate individuals with highly volatile, and contrasting, ideologies; the conflict of which is expressed in several brilliantly written and acted scenes that shimmer with the type of intelligence and honesty that is rarely seen in cinema today. The film’s enduring popular success with the mass audience may very well be due to the magnetic chemistry between Streisand and Redford, the gorgeous cinematography, and the strong directorial hand supplied by Pollack. However, it is the complexity of the romance with politics and the strong characterizations by both leads that continues to make THE WAY WE WERE the best love story for adults.
About the DVD: The picture quality is very good, quite possibly the best the film has ever looked. You must remember that movie has always had a stylistically hazy look. The sound quality is also vastly improved. Pollack’s commentary track is interesting, but the 60-minute documentary is the best extra on the disc. Featuring insightful interviews from Pollack, Streisand, and Laurents (as well as composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman) the documentary is well-produced and entertaining, and it was great to finally see those much-debated deleted scenes.

I want to strangle Hubbell when he says this final line at the end! But my rage is just an indication of how much I adore this movie!
I think people who giving a low rating to the film because of the incorrect portrayal of the communist movement, and whatever, are missing the mark of this movie entirely. The Way We Were is a love story, first and foremost. Communism is just a circumstance that complicates the love story. It is NOT in my opinion, the central theme of the movie.
That being said, TWWW is a classic story of “love isn’t enough.” I think Katie and Hubbell love each other deeply, but they are such different people. She wants him to be everything that she believes he is. (Whether he is or isn’t those things is debatable.) But he is content living a safe, yuppy life. He needs a girl who can just roll with that lifestyle, hence, he ends up with the nameless girl at the end of the film. She represents the safe type of girl that is pretty enough to keep Hubbell interested and safe enough to allow him to live his yuppy life.
It’s clear in the scene at the end that the love between them is still strong. You can feel the heat of that final embrace through the screen! I could go on and on about why this movie is one of the greatest, but I can’t. See this film.
DVD is Well Done – Looks & Sounds Better Than Ever
Finally! THE WAY WE WERE in widescreen! I think it really makes a difference. I’ve only seen pan and scan versions on video. It is especially noticeable in the opening credits where names/credits appear on one side of the screen and action takes place on the other side. For the first time we get to see Katie at her typewriter and Katie talking to her teacher.
The rest of the dvd is done just as well. The picture and sound are pristine. The menu screens are classy and easy to use. The bonus trailers from FOR PETE’S SAKE and Streisand’s later films are fun to see.
The hour-long documentary featuring interviews with Sydney Pollack and Streisand is very revealing. Pollack seems humble and grateful about the film. Streisand is relaxed and beautiful – again, reflective and humble about the experience as Pollack is. There is even a segment with Marvin Hamlisch on piano playing the different versions of THE WAY WE WERE theme. And Alan & Marilyn Bergman are a hilarious couple!
Sydney Pollack’s comments on the extra audio channel are interesting as well. I haven’t gotten through the whole movie yet, but so far so good!
The dvd is definitely a must-have for Streisand fans. But even fans of this classic romance will find much to like about the dvd as well.

I’ve always wanted to eye POSSESSION in its Director’s Lop, although I’ve never seen it before but saw the video box in the alarm share. A current of Dario Argento’s, POSSESSION is the greatest fright allegory on divorce since David Cronenberg’s THE BROOD. Sam Neill and Isabele Adjani are favorable in portraying the emotional harm of growing apart. It’s also a comment on the region of Germany when the Berlin Wall was mild erect and the Chilly War was in rotund do. As an added bonus, it’s also a bizarre monster movie, kind of a psychosexual Frankenstein anecdote. Enormous camerawork, music and ending! Highly recommended for begin minds and strong stomachs!
I remember watching SHOCK when I was a kid on television (as BEYOND THE DOOR 2) . The last half-hour of the movie has stuck out in my mind ever since. Mario Bava’s final film (aided by his son Lamberto, a gargantuan director in his maintain factual) is about possession, repressed memory, and psychological torment, with an edifying performance by Argento used Daria Nicolodi as the woman who experiences all of the above. Terrific music derive by I Libra, a side project of Goblin; wish the CD soundtrack to this film would reach out because I really cherish that opening theme! SHOCK is scarier upon repeated viewings and a must for Bava buffs!

Double features from Anchor Bay on one disc (one on each side) . Side A.) is 1981′s “Possession” with Sam Neill as Notice who works for a mysterious agency employing him to track down a man “in pink socks.” His marriage to Anna (Isabelle Adjani) is disintegrating. They’ve become emotionally estranged. They also have a little son. Note wants to assign the marriage, he suspects she’s having an affair, so he has her followed after she moves out. Anna has become increasingly erratic and deranged and has moved into an broken-down speed down apartment where she harbors a evil secret. And commits horrible kill. Their son’s teacher (also Adjani) is a dead-ringer for Anna—only softer and more nurturing. But Anna’s dwelling is something else again. “Possession” is a outlandish fear film with Neill and (especially) Adjani going all out. The “secret” is truly astonishingly outrageous. But the ending will leave your jaw dropping. Recommended for lovers of animated films and Adjani fans. She’s amazing. Side B.) is Mario Bava’s “Shock” from 1979. (AKA “Beyond the Door II”) “Shock” concerns a woman whose first husband (a junkie who supposedly committed suicide) seemingly comes wait on to haunt her through her runt son. Daria Nicolodi is splendid as Dora, the devoted mother who has remarried and moved wait on into the house where the first husband died and soon regrets it. Bava flourishes abound in a beautifully directed shocker with wonderful plot pieces and a creepy procure. Scary, bloody with some bizarre nightmare sequences and a chilling ending. Both “Possession” and “Shock” are presented in gracious prints and are worthwhile for terror lovers. But “Possession” is not for the squeamish. Relish…

Every once in awhile when I am feeling reflective I like to explore a David Cronenberg film. I have seen quite a few of them at this point, from some of his earliest stuff like “Shivers” to his seminal reworking of “The Cruise” starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. One thing you will always bag out of a Cronenberg film is a serious view at how technology and human beings interact. Like science fiction author J.G. Ballard, Cronenberg’s films embrace a synthesis of man and machine that is exceedingly grim, usually served with a qualified helping of gore. The overarching theme in his cinematic examinations seems to be that humans simply do not know enough about the technology they design, or if they do, their arrogance in the ultimate abilities of mankind always leads them charging into experiments despite the risks. That we are fair not far seeing enough to predict the outcome of using unique drugs, messing around with human genetics, or plugging game units into our spinal cords may be a helpful message to steal from a Cronenberg film. “The Brood” is an early (1979) worry from the Canadian director, an trouble that is better than “Rabid” and “Shivers” yet mild deals with themes his later films would revisit again and again.

“The Brood” explores the dangers of human emotions, in particular the emotion of rage. The movie opens with an extended scene animated Dr. Hal Raglan (Oliver Reed) conducting an intense psychotherapy session with a distraught young man. We learn that this patient harbors a burning hate for his father, so Raglan role-plays the section of the young man’s father in an anxiety to relieve dissipate the infuriate. It’s a very 1970′s sort of psychological treatment, as is the fact that an audience watches the lengthy session. Afterwards, we gawk that Reed’s character runs a private clinic called Somafree where he deals exclusively with patients incapacitated with rage. The young man seen in the opening sequence, although “performing” for an audience, is not Raglan’s star patient. That honor falls to Nola Carveth (Samantha Eggar), a fair mother of one locked away in one of the clinic’s enormous holding rooms. You explore, Raglan notices that in some human beings rage manifests itself physically, not only in shouting and violence, but also with sores and other marks on the body. In the case of Carveth, something distinguished more contemptible and hazardous occurs when she gets inflamed. It’s the sort of thing that could bring fame and riches to a doctor if controlled in the honest device.
In the meantime, Nola’s husband Frank (Art Hindle) and her daughter Candace (Cindy Hinds) must deal with all the problems having a relative in a mental asylum entails. Frank struggles with the fact that his wife physically abused their daughter, and his main difficulty now is keeping his daughter away from Nola and Somafree. He suspects, perhaps rightfully so, that his wife continues to pain young Candy during trips to Raglan’s situation. Too, Frank is starting to distrust the suited doctor’s motivations for insisting that Nola continue to witness the child. The state deteriorates to the point that Frank decides to glance a divorce. But Raglan knows something that Frank Carveth will soon learn in spades, that Nola Carveth possesses a current power only rarely before seen in a human being. While others externalize rage through body sores, Nola literally externalizes by giving birth to malevolent itsy-bitsy creatures that go forth and raze her enemies. That’s legal folks: what we have here are minute misshapen, fanged apparitions of rage rampaging through the countryside. Nola’s manifestations obliterate Candy’s grandparents before consuming on to the slight girl’s teacher. Anyone responsible for angering Nola soon finds a toothy, grunting microscopic monster hot on his or her trek. The conclusion to this bizarre situation is incredibly disturbing.

I kept wondering what Cronenberg was saying as I watched “The Brood.” Or perhaps it wasn’t so noteworthy a case of wondering what was going on as it was wondering how recent it was. Rage can kill–sure, I’ll pick that. Destructive emotions can cause physical changes in humans–I’ll engage that, too. We all know you can suffer a variety of maladies from stress and nettle. Cronenberg objective takes the belief a step further by declaring that rage can be so distinguished that the emotion could literally hold the beget of a physical being driven by the enrage. I don’t mediate carrying the belief one step further is original–isn’t there a long history of this sort of thing in witchcraft, demonology, and similar things? Don’t obtain me wrong; I liked the movie a lot. Changing the setting to a mental health clinic is a nice touch, and Eggar, Reed, and Hindle excel in their respective performances. Where else will you behold Oliver Reed viciously mauled by dozens of malefic cramped rage children? Exactly. Moreover, the Canadian atmosphere–lots of trees, dismal nights, and benefit roads–gives the movie a sort of remote, out of the device feel that I liked.
The characterize transfer on the DVD looks top-notch, but you don’t salvage anything beyond a trailer in the extras department. I’ve seen several Cronenberg films, especially his older ones, released in this manner. Why? Here’s a guy who has lots of fans hungering for information on his movies. Fortunately, Criterion recently released “Videodrome,” and some of his newer films do boast commentaries and slack the scenes stuff, so perhaps his older films will obtain a better reissue in the future. I for one would clear like to hear what Cronenberg has to say about a film like “The Brood.” Until that day arrives, you should calm give this one a recognize if you appreciate offbeat films.
Finally, an uncut print of THE BROOD. Cronenberg’s best film is presented here in a no frills release, however the version of the film is longer (and gorier) than the Japanese, Dutch, French and English DVD versions. It’s the same print which was shown on FilmFour in the UK a few years support. The murders and the jaw dropping climax are longer than in any other DVD. Sadly, the print quality is not nearly as grand as the exquisite presentation on the (sever) Dutch DVD. Nevertheless, if you want to gaze the film in it’s uncut gory-glory, this is the version to assume!

This is a grand and fascinating film about a young girl’s rejection by an unloving family and her odyssey through jail, court and a Place Home for Girls. But mainly it is about the loss of innocence, loss of faith in self and in others, and of optimism and of hope.
When this made for television film first aired on NBC in 1974, it produced a storm of controversy due to its graphic depiction of abuses in a Position Home for Girls. Filmed on station in Albuquerque, Current Mexico, the epic chronicles the imprisonment and family life of 14 year customary runaway Christine Parker, played by Linda Blair in an almost flawless performance. Gleaming and a gracious student, but confronted with an abusive father and alcoholic mother, she is a chronic runaway and is ultimately made a ward of the Residence at the behest of her parents. Christine is arrested by the local police and placed overnight in an adult jail, sharing a dormitory with adult inmates, an heart-broken practice that tranquil continues to this day in some jurisdictions. From here she is transferred to a jail for juveniles, made a ward of the court and ulimately sent to a Location Home for Girls, where she is subjected to numerous abuses, mainly by other residents at the Home, and culminating in her rape with the handle of a toilet scrubber brush by other female residents in her dormitory. The film manages to avoid predictable stereotypes in its portrayal of even the most predatory teenage residents. They are presented as multi-dimensional characters, disfunctional yet human.
Christine tries unsuccessfully to sprint and is placed in the isolation unit. Here she confides to her teacher, played with exceptional ability by Joanna Miles, that she had been raped. The scene in which the teacher helps Christine to confide in her, talking to and holding Christine through the limited opening in the isolation cell, is directed and performed with worthy sensitivity and skill, and is one of the most grand scenes in the film.

Christine’s teacher manages to fetch permission for Christine to be returned to her family on a trial basis, but her father becomes abusive again and Christine runs away to her brother who, preoccupied with his unusual wife and child, turns Christine over to the authorities. Returned to the Spot Home for Girls, Christine is disillusioned and almost without hope, but Christine’s teacher has Christine paired off with another girl resident who is pregnant, and Christine’s faith is briefly restored as she helps her friend with her pregnancy. This too ends tragically, as her friend hemorrhages while the two are in the isolation unit, after they are mistakenly believed to have started a fight in the messhall.
By the destroy of the film, there is puny if anything for Christine to gain in, and seemingly no where to go. She becomes indistinguishable from the other residents in the institution, begins to manipulate staff, loses faith in her suppotive teacher and apparently with life as well.
It is to the film’s credit that there are no typical villainous characters that can be conveniently blamed. The staff in the institution is portrayed without stereotype and as people who, for the most fragment, are well intentioned and supportive. Even the dormitory matron, played by Allyn Ann McLerie, who has Christine and her pregnant friend placed in isolation, is treated compassionately in the film as someone who is trying under very difficult conditions to have a semblance of order and to protect her charges. It is only definite that the circumstances of confinement and family life are at fault, but the film offers no easy or predictable answers.

Unfortunately, the packaging of the film on VHS and now on DVD does minute to bellow the quality and seriousness of the film. While its release on DVD is overdue, the film and actress deserve better than the DVD jacket with the drawing (which is not based on any scene in the movie) of Linda Blair as Christine posing seductively with her glide half launch. Nonetheless, this is an outstanding and principal film that is committed to uncompromising realism and honesty, and is not panicked to deviate from the typical formulas for movie making.
I was really lucky to be able to earn a modern copy of this movie on VHS. I remember it well from it’s first broadcast in 1974 on NBC, and all the controversy it generated due to [a rape] scene. This scene was edited from reruns, but is in tact on video. Linda Blair plays a teenage runaway that ends up in juvenile hall due to her parents expect & constant running away. It was made during an era on Network TV when they were trying to squawk a message in the movies they broadcast. The fashions, the hairstyles and the classic acting by Linda Blair, gain this a must maintain for anyone that appreciates the classic made-for-tv movies of the ’70s.
