First let me region that I’m writing this review as someone who has seen this program on TV and the History Channel DVD release which is currently available for sale. I’ve followed this case for many years (I’m obsolete enough to remember when it actually happened.) I’ve seen many documentaries on this case and never seem to tire of them. If you are well informed on the details of the lifestyle of the’family’ and the events that led up to the Tate / Labianca murders this offers no unique information. The only inviting point I found in this is the interview with Linda Kasabian (who does not do many interviews) and her recollections of those days spent with the family.

There are worthy and poor points to this DVD. First the helpful points- the production quality of this program is fine. The music and photography is well done and to my best recollection this is the only documentary (officially released) that contains the pictures of the trusty crime station, although in dusky and white.

The unpleasant points are in the recreation of the facts. Though Linda Kasabian accurately describes what she went through on those 2 nights of assassinate, the producers prove a very mistaken portrayal of the events. For example the house obsolete for the Tate house does not resemble it one bit. Even in the layout. There is no gate the killers avoid and climb around, and they reduce originate the cloak on a patio door! They shoot Steve Parent from the ghastly side of the car, and on and on it unbiased doesn’t match what has been written about for so many years. The house that they employ for the LaBianca house is also unsuitable and in this one there is a gate (they should’ve mature this for the Tate house.)

You would deem that after all the concern was made to do such production values in this and finding and talking Linda Kasabian into participating in it, that they would of done a miniature more research using photographs and information that is readily available all over the internet to produce there re-creation search for more upright. But no. Things impartial seek horrible. For people familiar with the crime, the inaccuracies are countless.

That being said, the only other quandary is with the version on the DVD itself. It seems that this is the broadcast version that was worn by the History Channel. For example, there are spots that jump chop or dip to shadowy where the commercial breaks were, and the closing credits race at a high rate of bustle during the last scene in the lower left hand corner, a tactic feeble to slam the next program in before the viewer can gather away. No closing music at all. I bear this was shown overseas and a different version may exist.

All in all, as for a docu-drama this is unruffled an challenging thing to recognize, inaccuracies and all. The interviews encourage carry it through even though you’ve heard it all before.

Like the other reviewer of this DVD Documentary on the Manson murders I totally agree that while the production values were adequate and the interview with Linda Kasabian most riveting, the inacurracies are numerous and extinguish what could have been an respectable documentary of one of the most renowned cancel cases of the 20th century.

Although I was only 3 years primitive when the murders took state in August of 1969, I’ve read most of the books associated with the Tate-LaBianca murders – most especially “Helter Skelter”. Two made-for-TV movies, one released in 1976 and the other in 2004 are mighty more honest in re-creating the events leading up to the murders as well as the bewitch of the defendents and the subsequent trial.

The best thing about “Manson 40 Years Later” is clearly the interview with Linda Kasabian. Even though it’s been 40 years since these horrendous murders took state, her recollection of the events are obvious and insightful and it’s evident that she level-headed feels grand guilt, sadness and remorse for her peripheral involvement as the driver/look-out. There was a very spellbinding addition to her interview that didn’t appear in previous books, testimony or in any other movies or documentaries done on this case. I was surprised to learn that after the shooting of Steven Parent by Tex Watson, he instructed Linda Kasabian to go into the car and purchase the wallet out of the tedious man’s pocket.

Other than the interview and recollections of Linda Kasabian, the re-creation of the family members and the murders themselves are filled with many inaccurancies and oversights. First of all, most of the actors portraying the killers looked nothing like them. For instance, the actress portraying Patricia Krenwinkel had thin red hair while the actual Patricia Krenwinkel had long, thick brown hair.

As previously pointed out, the residences depicted as the Tate and LaBianca residences looked NOTHING like the accurate residences. The dramatizations of the murders themselves, while chilling as well as gory, were also displayed inaccurately.

I’m giving this DVD 3 stars for the interviews with Linda Kasabian, Catherine Portion and Vincent Bugliosi but it’s a shame that the producers did such shoddy work on the fact and dramatizations.

HATARI! may be the most palatable of the Howard Hawks/John Wayne collaborations (their other pairings produced the classics RED RIVER and RIO BRAVO, and the RIO BRAVO ‘remakes’ EL DORADO and RIO LOBO), and is exceptional in several ways; at 157 minutes (2 hours, 37 minutes), it may be one of the longest ‘buddy’ films ever made; nearly all of the animal ‘chase and capture’ sequences alive to the loyal cast members (professional handlers serving as stunt doubles were only rarely worn) ; and the filming began with virtually no script (which was written based on the ‘on location’ footage in Africa, after the cast returned to California) . At 65, director Hawks was calm in top invent, and the risks he took paid off…HATARI!, despite it’s length, is never listless!

The memoir focuses on a season with a team of professional hunter/trappers, capturing animals for zoos and circuses. With a breathtaking opening scene of a rhino stir, costing them the expend of traditional driver, ‘Indian’ (legendary actor Bruce Cabot), the ‘family’ dynamic is swiftly established, with rugged Sean Mercer (Wayne) both boss and father-figure to the group. As he and the rest of the ‘family’ (Red Buttons, Hardy Krüger, Valentin de Vargas, and Michèle Girardon) meet ‘Indian’s’ replacement, ‘Chips’ (Gérard Blain), Mercer has an even bigger headache to deal with; splendid photographer Anna Maria ‘Dallas’ D’Allesandro (Elsa Martinelli) has arrived, to shoot a magazine spread. A ‘traditional’ Hawks leading lady, ‘Dallas’ is feisty, sultry, and attracted to Mercer, and the older man, depressed with the ease by which she fits into the group, as well as his believe stirrings, tries to develop it certain that romance has no state on his agenda (in worthy the same manner as he did with Angie Dickinson in RIO BRAVO…and with the same results) .

While some elements of the sage are dated and politically mistaken (shooting a baby African elephant, even as a ‘mercy killing’, would be a major offense, today, as it is an endangered species), the combination of spectacular ‘hunt’ sequences, and the warmth and easy camaraderie of the cast in the subplots fabricate HATARI! a rich, rewarding experience.

A major plus for the film is a very atypical Henry Mancini regain, combining tense, African-influenced themes for the chases, and the very laughable ‘Baby Elephant Walk’ to punctuate ‘Dallas’s’ relationship with her adopted pachyderm ‘children’. The baby elephant scenes are film highlights, as is the rocket hold of a tree filled with monkeys, and both rhino chases (which clearly shows Wayne in some loyal anguish!)

From the opening rhino sequence to the closing ‘Honeymoon’ scene, HATARI! is a ample entertainment, and escapism at it’s best!

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this movie since I was a child. And it is unruffled one of my all time favorites. I hope Paramount is making a DVD in the come future, cause my venerable VHS tape is handsome customary out and won’t do it any longer. Although John Wayne is mostly famed for his western movies, he’s best in Non-westerns. His exprssion when Martinelli asks him how he likes to kiss is priceless. I Like IT!! Howard Hawks was an favorable director and never in the 160 minutes the movie is humdrum. The action scenes are moving, the comedy scenes are laughable. Don’t touch it when you treasure Stallone or Van Damme, but it is a must when you care for Beneficial Dilapidated Hollywood!!

Fame, fortune, luxury, and letting it all go to your head; agents, managers, publicists, and everyone else that will lie, cheat, or lift to gain a portion of you; and remembering your proper friends. These are all key ingredients that design “Entourage” thoroughly intelligent, as well as freighting when you judge about how it’s based on reality.

I assume the explain as a cautionary tale; the entertainment industry is where I have impartial barely started to bag my feet wet. There is a lot of truth in this fictional show: either everyone wants a share of you or no one knows your name and can’t spare a shrimp of their time. From my shrimp time spent dealing with people of the industry, on either glide, I have already found more jerks and egos-out-of-control than I care to narrate. “Entourage” does an proper job of exposing the dangers of the L.A. lifestyle, while simultaneously managing to expose them in a thoroughly savory manner.

The superficial world that is the entertainment business is navigated successfully through the four different personalities that form up the entourage. The four personalities of the Rising Star, Has-Been, Bum, and Serene Average Guy balance out the cast and provide a character for everyone to appreciate or represent to. Their friendship and their dependence on each other construct the characters a success, as well as a success in the world of the point to.

Jeremy Piven’s role as agent to rising star, Vincent Rush, is thoroughly spirited as well as aggravating. He’s not quite the villain, but the perfect embodiment of the guy you don’t want working against you. His rapidly one-liners and perfect delivery create it a joy to examine the prove, whereas a real-life encounter with a guy such as him would probably beget you want to deck him.

“Entourage” is rife with inside jokes, but not enough to lose the average viewer. Instead, the average viewer might impartial glance the present as a bunch of losers whining about the capable life and living high off the hog without really working. I bask in it, but it’s certainly not for everybody. I gaze it as another example of why I don’t, and never want to, live in Los Angeles.

Show business is unlike any other business: they work by their occupy rules and settle who to let into their microscopic clique. It’s about as noble as sleeping in a pit chubby of vipers, but our look at what it’s like to live on top is sterling a one.

Having heard about Entourage for a couple years now, I decided to finally give it a shot after prolonging it for quite some time. The exhibit didn’t ogle that spicy to me and the main actor who plays Vincent, Adrian Grenier, objective seemed like a `B’ actor to me. But after I kept hearing my friends talk about the present, I decided to purchase it up at a store here in Iraq. It has all 4 seasons in it for like 30 bucks… hehe.

After a few episodes I was really into the point to. It’s definitely laughable and that’s what I wanted. To truly delight in the present, you must let well-liked sense go, because it unprejudiced doesn’t go well with this indicate. One prime example is that Vincent Pace is a lead star that’s honest had a tremendous movie premier. He’s a colossal name actor (sorta) now and he’s got a gorgeous boy face to go with that role. But he can go anywhere he wants around town and never seem to acquire swamped with fans or the paparazzi. If you can let the limited things go, I own you’ll truly appreciate the display.

Now Vince is an up and coming star and he has his boys from high school with him along with his primitive brother Johnny `Drama’ Slouch. Drama, as most call him, is what you would call a `B’ actor. Most of his stints have been not grand characters on some accepted shows such as Melrose Dwelling and Viking Quest (which I’m thinking is supposed to be Hercules) and some not so known shows as well. Turtle is one of the suitable friends, and his main job is to be a driver and do obvious errands Vinny needs. He’s not Vin’s slave by no means, but this is how he earns his sustain so he doesn’t have to be a burly blown moocher. Eric is Vince’s best friend and has been since they were about 6 years weak. Eric has his head on his shoulders and is here to try and relieve Vince with his career. He’s not trying to be a mooch, but honest trying to assist his friend. Vince makes Eric his manager to succor with scripts and to perform his life easier. And when I say easier…I mean it as in Vinny doesn’t have to talk to Ari Gold (played BRILLIANTLY by Jeremy Piven), a frosty hearted, hard as nails, wise cracking, brilliant butt, genius, and on the top of his game agent. Ari and Eric’s arguments are some of the best parts of the exhibit. Both hard headed and both trying to assist Vincent, but in somewhat different ways. The whole cast is big and definitely grow on you as the season(s) goes on. Along with the cast you also have a LOT of gargantuan name cameos. I was quite surprised to peruse so many.

What I treasure about the point to is that it makes life seem so fun being rich. Once Vinny makes millions from his first movie, he buys a mountainous house for him and friends to live in. Cars for them. They win trips when they want. Fair hang out and do things we all wished we could do. And when someone like Jessica Alba talks to them, everything is so nonchalant. If it was me, I don’t judge I’d be able to even allege. Ok maybe I would, but my words would near out all Jibba Jabba like.

And yes there is a narrative that goes with the point to. In season one the sizable thing is getting Vincent another movie while he’s hot. Eric puts a hurting on that because Ari fair wants whatever will glean Vincent titanic money, while Eric wants to encourage rep Vinny a righteous script regardless of the money. Like other shows, it has one `main’ theme for the season, while each episode has a mini-story itself.

All in all, I’m very contented I tried this expose out. Very droll and I highly recommend it. Especially to guys, even though I know a lot of girls like it too. But like another reviewer mentioned… Entourage is sorta like a Sex in the City for guys.

The indicate does have a LOT of language that isn’t excellent for children in my understanding. Some nudity (though not distinguished) is also in here…like boobs!

i watched this on MSNBC, recorded it on DVR and watched it again. Last night it was on yet again and i watched a short bit of it, which sent me off on yet another internet search to read more about the case. The story is appalling and fascinating. While it seems utterly bizarre, at the same time, the film illuminates the fact that this kind of thing probably is going on all the time, not the tragic outcome that this story is about but the situation that led to that outcome–these must be rather common, people much like these people in this true story, similar situations and feelings. The internet has taken over the role that TV once played, where almost everyone was glued to a TV set in all their spare time, to fill those empty places in life, to entertain and distract, to excite and uplift, to experience vicarious or pseudo-adventures, to blur the line between fantasy and reality. Increasingly everyone is on the net and many are engaged in the activities these people were involved in, in other words, it’s fairly normal. In this case, a serious anger management impulse control problem (not that uncommon in society) came into play resulting in a tragedy. So this story carries cautionary lessons, but one of the loose ends that the story leaves me with is, what could be done to prevent something like this from happening? I’m not sure. The film raises far more questions than it answers.

Who’s Fooling Who?star50 tpng Talhotblond Review.
An interesting tale spun by life’s reality. This true story speaks volumes about today’s sex absorbed, self conceited immoral culture. We’ve killed God, so we have only our own bankrupted moral codes to guide us, and they are sorely inadequate.

A Chilling Cautionary Tale About The Dangers of Internet Chat Rooms and Romancestar50 tpng Talhotblond Review.
Anybody who loves lurid, real-life homicide cases with mind boggling revelations will crave this skillfully made documentary about a cyberspace femme fatale who turned two grown men against one another. These two guys participated in Internet chat room sessions with an 18-year old hottie. Forty-seven year old factory worker Thomas Montgomery, currently serving a 20-year stretch in Attica Correctional Facility in New York, was an unhappily married man with two daughters aged 12 and 14-years old. Montgomery was suffering from impotence when he met Jessica in an Internet chat room purely by accident. Montgomery masqueraded as an 18-year old battle scarred Marine sniper named Tommy when he learned that Jessi was a West Virginia high school senior. He fooled the poor teenager into believing that he had deep feelings of love for her. Jessi reciprocated similar feelings of affection. The web-based romance began in May 2005. Jessi sent him photos of herself in a bathing suit, videos of herself set to a ballad, red-lace panties, and a sterling silver “key to my heart” chain. Their chat sessions degenerated pornographic prattle. Meanwhile, Montgomery’s suspicious wife Cindy discovered her husband’s perfidy and contacted Jessi with the truth about Montgomery. Before long Jessi hooked up with a college student named Brian. Eventually, this twisted relationship incorporated all three and Montgomery learned that Brian worked part-time at the same factory, the tool plant, Dynabrade in Clarence, New York, where he had been working for 12 years. One evening while 22-year old Brian sat in his truck in the factory parking lot, Montgomery approached the vehicle without warning and fired three shots from a .30-caliber gun into the driver’s side door, killing Brian. The jealous older man was stunned when he learned the truth about sexy young Jessi and how she had lead him on in a bizarre love triangle. This is a chilling cautionary tale of what can occur when you chat will the wrong folks in cyberspace. First-time writer & director Barbara Schroeder does a splendid job of assembling the facts in a piecemeal fashion with the actual participants, including candid, on-camera interviews with convicted killer Thomas Montgomery, clinical psychologist and attorney Dr. Rex Julian Beaber, Erie County prosecutor Ken Case, Erie County Sheriff Ron Kenyon, Oak Hill, West Virginia Sgt. Lee Kirk, Tim Shieler, and the father of the Internet teen vixen. The revelations here will curl your toe-nails and make you think twice about entering an Internet chat room. Indeed, truth is again stranger than fiction! “Talhotblond” received the Best Documentary award at the 2009 Seattle International Film Festival. Incidentally, the title refers to the screen name that Jessi used in Internet chat rooms.

I haven’t read the book, but this documentary is not a rehashing of that book. It really speaks about life after the book became immensely accepted. You leer the doctors going to speaking engagements and mentoring younger African Americans.

Like the book, this will really inspire viewers. For me, I liked how they “kept it sincere.” None of them turned their backs on less fortunate Shadowy folk. They collected embraced African-American vernacular and culture. None of them said, “Now that I’m successful, I want to be like Clarence Thomas on Condi Rice!” Watching the doctors prefer as they climbed will warm the hearts of many.

Having said that, I am unexcited concerned about some of the things I saw here. The work shows the doctors at an event with Bill Cosby. In fairness, the doctors never say they wholeheartedly embrace Cosby’s preachings. Collected, even in the Dismal community, critics have said the Cosby is becoming conservative and somewhat classist. RuPaul wrote about how bitter and enraged Cosby was when she met him. Cosby may have overestimated the impact that his sitcom was going to have on the nation. So to bring in Cosby muddies issues, rather than account for them. This documentary might have been stronger without him.

At one point, one doctor changes shirts while driving to an event. Yes, it shows that he has a lot of demands on his time. Composed, that was unethical to do as a driver. If he had killed another driver that draw, then his medical career and ability to mentor would have been reduce short. If you advance to an event in your white lab coat, what’s the enormous deal? I hope young viewers don’t believe they can buy their minds off the road because this doctor did it. I was very disappointed seeing that.

The work does extinguish showing that the doctors are going strong in their field, however, this work implies that they really want to mentor more than they want to practice. If they kept busy in the hospital, maybe they could become presidents of those hospitals. I’m terrorized that they reached a level and now impartial want to abet others to do the same, rather than trying to near even further heights. They are non-doctors who can state young people to assume mountainous. They may begin more doors by focusing on medicine, rather than trying to only do it part-time or on a itsy-bitsy basis.

This documentary was very safe to my students. My 9th grade class had to read the book over the summer. The documentary made them visualize the doctors and also fragment their worlds’. Along with being satisfactory to my students, it was well done and gave you a gaze of how the doctors lived now that they are men.
